Endurance is the maximum "hit points" of a permanent. This value is not reduced when damage is dealt to the permanent.

Whenever damage is dealt to a permanent, its damage count is increased by that much. The damage count is held over from turn to turn (unlike damage in many games). If at any time the damage count is greater than the endurance of the permanent the permanent is destroyed.
