The restore phase is the first phase in the Turn. It is also the only phase that is not shared among all players. Each player gets their own restore phase starting with the aggressive player. During a player's own restore phase they always have initiative. The following happens during the restore phase:

  1. All abilities controlled by the player with initiative that trigger "at the beginning of your restore phase" go on the stack.
  2. The player with initiative becomes active and the stack is played out.
  3. The player with initiative may choose to pay the costs of each character and other permanent with a cost. See restore cost for information about what happen if a permanents cost is not paid. Any abilities that go on the stack at this point must wait for the end of phase stack.
  4. All permanents controlled by the player with initiative are undrained.
  5. All abilities controlled by the player with initiative that trigger "at the end of your restore phase" go on the stack.
  6. The player with initiative becomes active and the stack is played out.
